Busse Reverses Course Releases Tax Returns

Montana Democratic gubernatorial candidate Ryan Busse released ten years of income tax records to the Associated Press, despite previously saying he would not release his taxes.

Busse change of course comes as he is challenging Republican Governor Greg Gianforte to a debate before the upcoming November election. This move followed Gianforte’s remarks last week, where he dismissed Busse as not being a “serious candidate” and hinted that he wouldn’t debate him unless Busse disclosed his tax returns.

According to the Associated Press, Busse and his wife Sara Swan-Bussee have averaged making $260,000 per year over the past decade. That is nearly 5 times more than, Montanan’s average salary of $54,525.

Gianforte released his latest tax returns in August. The former technology executive seeking reelection to a second term, had previously released 10 years of federal and state tax returns in 2020.

Recent poll results have shown Gianforte with a substantial lead over Busse, the Kalispell-based, gun control advocate and author. Larry Sabato’s Crystal ball and  US News and World Report as rated the race as “Safe Republican”.
