Tiger Woods Arrested After Florida Rollover Crash

Golfer Tiger Woods was arrested Friday after a rollover crash near his home on Jupiter Island, Florida, in what authorities said was his second DUI-related arrest and at least the fourth high-profile auto incident of his career.

According to authorities, Woods showed signs of impairment after his Land Rover struck another vehicle and rolled over. A Breathalyzer test was negative for alcohol, but Woods refused to submit to a urine test, leading to misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test. Neither Woods nor the other driver was injured.

The crash is the latest in a string of well-publicized driving incidents involving Woods. In 2017, he was found asleep behind the wheel of a damaged vehicle in a traffic lane in South Florida. Woods later said he had taken prescription pain medication and suffered a bad reaction. He ultimately pleaded guilty to reckless driving, completed a first-time DUI offender program, and received probation, a fine, and community service.

Woods was also involved in a serious 2021 rollover crash in California that left him with severe leg injuries and required multiple surgeries, though authorities did not bring impairment-related charges in that case. Another major crash in 2009 outside his Florida home drew national attention during a turbulent period in his personal life.

Friday’s arrest adds fresh uncertainty around Woods’ immediate future, coming just days after his return to competitive golf and raising new questions about whether he will be able to compete in upcoming events.
