BOISE, Idaho — Micron Technology is scheduled to report fiscal fourth-quarter results Sept. 30, with investors looking for another quarter of rapid growth as artificial-intelligence spending continues to fuel demand for high-performance memory.
The Boise-based semiconductor company has already set a high bar. Micron reported fiscal third-quarter revenue of $41.46 billion, up 74% from the prior quarter and more than four times the level reported a year earlier.
For the fourth quarter, Micron has guided to revenue of about $50 billion, plus or minus $1 billion. The company also expects a gross margin of approximately 86% and non-GAAP earnings of about $31 a share.
Those forecasts would extend one of the strongest growth periods in the company’s history.
A major driver has been data-center demand tied to artificial intelligence. Micron’s products include DRAM and NAND memory as well as high-bandwidth memory, or HBM, used in advanced AI computing systems.
Micron said in June that its HBM4 products were already shipping in high volume for a lead customer platform, while samples had been sent to additional customers. The company is also developing its next-generation HBM4E product, with volume production expected in 2027.
Chief Executive Sanjay Mehrotra said after the third-quarter results that the performance reflected the growing importance of memory technology in the AI market.
“Micron’s record fiscal Q3 financial results and even stronger outlook for Q4 reflect the strategic value of memory in the AI era,” Mehrotra said.
Pricing will also be closely watched. Strong demand and constrained industry supply have supported higher memory prices and helped Micron sharply expand profitability.
The company’s third-quarter non-GAAP earnings reached $25.11 a diluted share, while operating cash flow totaled $25.39 billion.
Investors will be watching whether Micron can meet or exceed its $50 billion revenue forecast and whether management signals that favorable pricing and supply conditions can continue into fiscal 2027.
Another focus will be capital spending and production capacity. Micron has been investing heavily to expand manufacturing as demand for advanced memory grows, particularly from data-center customers.
The Sept. 30 earnings report also comes after a significant rise in Micron shares, increasing the importance of forward guidance. Strong results alone may not determine the stock’s reaction if investors have already priced in continued rapid growth.
Micron is scheduled to hold its fiscal fourth-quarter earnings call at 4:30 p.m. Eastern time, or 2:30 p.m. Mountain time, on Sept. 30.
