Nikki Haley surges in New Hampshire poll

In a recent poll, former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley has closed in within four percentage points of the frontrunner, Donald Trump, in the 2024 Republican presidential primary in New Hampshire.

The American Research Group Inc poll, released on Thursday, revealed that Haley secured 29% support compared to Trump’s 33%. This gap fell within the poll’s 4% margin of error, indicating a tighter race than anticipated. A day earlier, a Saint Anselm College New Hampshire Institute of Politics poll showed Haley doubling her support since September, positioning her as a viable alternative to Trump for conservative voters. While Trump led with 44% to Haley’s 30% in the Saint Anselm survey, it hinted at significant competition within the party.

Haley was the US ambassador to the United Nations after Trump won the presidency in 2016, but she resigned in 2018. Prior to that, she was governor of South Carolina from 2011 to 2017.
