Brandon Shippy Appointed to District 9 Senate Seat by Governor Little

Governor Brad Little has appointed Brandon Shippy to fill the vacant District 9 Senate seat left by Abby Lee, marking a significant addition to Idaho’s legislative roster.

Shippy, a native of Payette County, brings a wealth of community involvement and entrepreneurial experience to his new role. He is the owner and operator of Shippy Sprinkler LLC, a small business based in New Plymouth. Beyond his professional endeavors, Shippy is deeply engaged in local affairs as a church deacon and a dedicated volunteer with Narrow Path Prison Ministries. Alongside his wife, Rakel, Shippy also serves as a foster care provider, reflecting his commitment to family and community welfare.

“I am honored to be appointed to the Idaho State Senate,” Shippy expressed. “Having actively engaged with our district’s residents during the primary campaign, I am eager to amplify their voices and advocate for our community’s priorities in Boise.”

Shippy’s civic engagement extends to political activism as a local precinct committeeman and the Youth Chairperson for the Payette County Republican Central Committee. His recent victory in the Republican primary on May 21, 2024, solidified his nomination for the Legislative District 9 Senate seat.

In accordance with Idaho Code 59-904A, which governs legislative vacancies, the Payette County Republicans forwarded a list of candidates to Governor Little for consideration. Shippy’s appointment underscores adherence to legal procedures for filling vacancies within the Idaho legislature.

Brandon Shippy will serve out the remainder of Abby Lee’s term, which concludes on November 30, 2024. His appointment reflects a continuation of community-focused leadership in District 9, bridging local concerns with state-level policymaking.
