Coca-Cola Earnings Preview: Wall Street Expects Higher Profits as Investors Watch Consumer Spending

ATLANTA — Coca-Cola is scheduled to report third-quarter earnings Tuesday, Oct. 27, with Wall Street expecting higher revenue and profits as investors assess whether the beverage giant can maintain sales growth amid inflation, changing consumer habits and pressure on household budgets.

Analysts expect Coca-Cola (NYSE: KO) to report adjusted earnings of approximately 88 cents per share on revenue of $12.92 billion, according to consensus estimates compiled by MarketBeat.

That would represent an increase from the 82 cents per share and $12.46 billion in revenue reported during the same quarter last year. The estimates imply earnings growth of approximately 7% and revenue growth of nearly 4%.

The results will provide another indication of how major consumer brands are performing as households balance higher living expenses against spending on everyday products.

Coca-Cola has relied on a combination of price increases, product innovation and international sales growth to maintain its financial performance. Investors will be watching whether the company can continue expanding revenue without discouraging consumers from purchasing its beverages.

In the second quarter, Coca-Cola reported revenue of $13.37 billion, an increase of approximately 7% from the previous year. Adjusted earnings rose 11% to 97 cents per share, exceeding Wall Street expectations.

Organic revenue, which excludes the effects of currency fluctuations and acquisitions, increased 6%, supported by higher concentrate sales and improved pricing.

Global unit case volume rose 5%, reflecting growth in the number of beverages sold. North American volume increased 3%, while Asia Pacific volume climbed 8%.

The performance suggested that Coca-Cola was continuing to generate sales growth through a combination of increased consumption and higher prices.

One closely watched measure Tuesday will be unit case volume, which provides a clearer picture of consumer demand than revenue alone.

When companies raise prices, revenue can increase even if consumers purchase fewer products. Sustained volume growth would indicate Coca-Cola is maintaining demand despite higher prices.

Investors will also examine the performance of Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, one of the company’s fastest-growing products. The brand recorded 16% volume growth during the second quarter, compared with 5% growth for the broader Coca-Cola trademark.

The company has continued expanding its portfolio beyond traditional carbonated beverages through brands including Powerade, BODYARMOR, smartwater, fairlife and Costa Coffee.

International markets remain another important driver of Coca-Cola’s financial results. The company sells products in more than 200 countries and territories, making its performance sensitive to changes in foreign exchange rates, consumer spending and regional economic conditions.

Profit margins will also receive attention as beverage manufacturers contend with packaging, transportation, labor and ingredient costs.

Coca-Cola reported an operating margin of 34.9% in the second quarter, up from 34.1% a year earlier. Its adjusted operating margin increased to 35.6%.

The company’s ability to preserve those margins while continuing to invest in marketing and product development will be an important indicator of its underlying profitability.

Management’s outlook for the remainder of 2026 could prove equally significant.

Following its second-quarter results, Coca-Cola raised its full-year guidance, projecting approximately 5% organic revenue growth and adjusted earnings-per-share growth of 9% to 10%.

The company also forecast approximately $12.4 billion in free cash flow for the year, reflecting expectations for strong operating cash generation.

Investors will be looking for any changes to those projections, particularly as the company enters the final quarter of the year and prepares for 2027.

Coca-Cola shares closed Friday at $92.77, down 2.7% for the session. The stock’s performance following Tuesday’s announcement will depend not only on whether earnings exceed expectations but also on management’s assessment of future consumer demand and operating costs.

Coca-Cola is scheduled to release its financial results before the New York Stock Exchange opens Tuesday, followed by a conference call with analysts and investors at 8:30 a.m. Eastern.
