The Montana Highway Patrol (MHP) recently completed an interdiction operation in Butte from September 9 to 12, aimed at removing illicit drugs, firearms associated with drug trafficking, and fugitives from the streets. This initiative is part of a broader effort to address the rising drug-related crime in the state.
During the operation, MHP troopers seized nearly 2,000 fentanyl pills, 100 grams of fentanyl powder, and 2.2 pounds of methamphetamine. They also confiscated three illegal firearms and more than $140,000 in suspected drug money. In addition, the operation led to the arrest of 10 fugitives, the issuance of 34 drug citations, and 139 traffic stops.
“I’m proud of our troopers’ work in Butte last week,” said MHP Lieutenant Colonel Kyle Hayter. “At the Montana Highway Patrol, we will continue to do our part to keep our communities and highways safe.”
These operations are conducted at various times throughout the state as part of MHP’s ongoing commitment to combating drug trafficking and enhancing public safety.
