A majority of U.S. voters believe Democrats in Congress should work with former President Donald Trump rather than oppose him outright, according to a new Rasmussen Reports poll.
The survey found that 55% of likely voters think it would be better for the Democratic Party if its members in Congress sought to cooperate with Trump. In contrast, 36% believe Democrats should resist Trump’s agenda in every way possible. Another 9% remain undecided.
This sentiment reflects a shift from eight years ago when Trump first took office. At that time, 63% of voters thought Democrats should try to work with him, suggesting a decline in bipartisan expectations over time.
While many Democrats in Congress have positioned themselves as staunch opponents of Trump’s policies, the data indicates that most voters favor a more cooperative approach.
