Republican Governors Raise Concerns Over Biden Administration’s Asylum Program

In a coordinated effort, 25 Republican governors expressed serious concerns today regarding the Biden Administration’s management of the Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans (CHNV) asylum program. The governors sent a letter to President Biden highlighting issues related to the program’s lack of coordination and information sharing, which they claim is adversely affecting both their states and the asylum seekers themselves.

The governors demanded comprehensive information about the location and status of migrants being directed to their communities, asserting that the current approach has created significant challenges for local governments.

Among the signatories were prominent Republican leaders including Governor Kay Ivey of Alabama, Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida, and Governor Greg Abbott of Texas. They emphasized that the inadequacies of the asylum program are not just logistical concerns but are also detrimental to the well-being of those seeking refuge.

The full letter detailing their concerns and demands is available for review HERE.
