Gianforte Proclaims February as Career and Technical Education Month

Governor Greg Gianforte has declared February as Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month in Montana, emphasizing the role of hands-on learning and workforce training in preparing students for high-demand careers.

“Montana’s economy depends on a strong, skilled workforce, and career and technical education provides students with the tools they need to succeed,” Gianforte said. “From welding and healthcare to information technology and agriculture, CTE programs equip students with real-world skills that lead to high-paying jobs right here in Montana.”

Earlier this month, Gianforte signed the CTE Month proclamation at the Montana State Capitol, where he was joined by students and representatives from Career and Technical Student Organizations such as FFA, Business Professionals of America, DECA, SkillsUSA, and HOSA Future Health Professionals. Strengthening workforce development and expanding opportunities for students through technical education remain key priorities for his administration.

CTE Month highlights the significance of technical education in Montana’s schools, including apprenticeships, dual-credit programs, and industry-recognized certifications that help students transition directly into the workforce or further their education.

In addition to the CTE proclamation, Gianforte also recognized FFA Week in Montana, underscoring the importance of agricultural education in local communities. With over 109 FFA chapters and 6,600 members across the state, FFA continues to play a vital role in fostering leadership, career readiness, and innovation in agriculture.

“Agriculture is the backbone of our state, and FFA is shaping the next generation of leaders in this industry,” Gianforte said. “These young men and women are gaining valuable experience in agribusiness, science, and technology, ensuring Montana’s agricultural legacy remains strong for years to come.”

Throughout February, schools and communities across Montana will host events showcasing CTE programs and celebrating FFA members’ contributions. The governor encourages Montanans to support students pursuing technical careers and to recognize the critical role of agricultural education in shaping the state’s future.
