MINNEAPOLIS — The Justice Department announced criminal charges against 15 defendants in connection with a sweeping Minnesota health care fraud enforcement action, alleging participation in schemes involving more than $90 million in intended losses — including what prosecutors described as the two largest Medicaid fraud cases ever charged in the district.
The Minnesota Health Care Fraud Takedown targeted owners of child care centers and various Medicaid providers across the state. Prosecutors said the cases also include first-of-their-kind charges involving additional Medicaid programs beyond those previously pursued in the district.
The defendants face allegations spanning multiple fraud schemes, with the total intended loss across all cases exceeding $90 million.
The Justice Department did not release full details of each individual case at the time of the announcement. All charges are allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
