Google, a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc., announced plans to appeal part of a recent U.S. federal court ruling in the Department of Justice’s antitrust case against the tech giant.
The move follows a decision on Thursday by U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema, who found that Google had willfully acquired and maintained monopoly power in the markets for publisher ad servers and ad exchanges. The ruling marks a significant development in one of the most high-profile antitrust cases brought against a major technology company in recent years.
While Google has not contested all aspects of the ruling, the company said it will challenge the “adverse” portion of the decision, signaling a continued legal battle over its dominance in digital advertising.
