U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Boston arrested an “unlawfully present” Salvadoran national charged with 11 counts of sex crimes against a child in Nantucket.
Elmer Sola, 49, was taken into custody on September 10 in Nantucket. He remains in ICE custody pending removal proceedings.
Sola was indicted by a Nantucket Superior Court jury on August 14 on three counts of aggravated rape of a child and eight counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.
“Elmer Sola illegally entered the United States and then committed heinous crimes against a child in our community,” said Todd M. Lyons, ERO Boston Field Office Director. “We will not tolerate such threats to the safety of our children. ERO will continue to prioritize the arrest and removal of dangerous noncitizen offenders.”
Sola entered the United States illegally at an unknown time and location.
ICE encourages the public to report crimes or suspicious activity involving noncitizen offenders by calling the ICE Tip Line at 866-DHS-2-ICE (866-347-2423) or completing the online tip form.
