Pro-Palestinian demonstrators disrupted morning traffic on Wednesday at Los Angeles International Airport and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport—two of the busiest airports in the nation—during coast-to-coast protests that concluded with numerous arrests. The Los Angeles Police Department reported that 36 individuals were apprehended at LAX, where the protesters became unruly.
According to the police statement, the demonstrators at LAX threw a police officer to the ground and utilized construction debris, road signs, tree branches, and blocks of concrete to obstruct a road leading into the airport. They also attacked uninvolved passersby in their vehicles during the protest.
