North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum (R) has decided to suspend his participation in the Republican presidential primary due to a lack of momentum in the competitive field. From the outset, Burgum’s campaign was considered a challenging endeavor. With limited national visibility upon entering the race, he encountered skepticism about whether his candidacy was more of a personal endeavor than a serious political pursuit.
Nevertheless, participating in the primary did afford Burgum the opportunity to enhance his national profile, securing access to televised appearances and a spot on the presidential debate stage.
