Rep. Rosendale Applauds 9th Circuit for Ending Moratorium on Coal Leasing

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Matt Rosendale (MT-02), expressed support for the U.S. Court of Appeals 9th Circuit’s decision to overturn an Obama-era federal coal leasing moratorium. This decision will lead to less restrictions in the federal coal leasing process and an increase in American energy production. It will also put pressure on the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to issue leases they have been reluctant to advance.

“The 9th Circuit’s decision is a big win for coal miners who have been fighting bureaucratic red tape to bring reliant, efficient energy to the Treasure State,” said Rep. Rosendale. “The BLM must now listen to this decision and begin advancing federal coal leases. The Biden administration needs to end its war on fossil fuels and fix the energy crisis facing our nation.”
